Established in 1911, offers 148 degree programs in six undergraduate colleges,
a graduate college and the Paul W. Martin Sr. Honors College.

It is one of the fastest growing universities in Tennessee with an enrollment of 21,000 students. The 500-acre campus includes the Tennessee Livestock Center, Murphy Center and Johnny "Red" Floyd Stadium.

Discovery Center at Murfree Spring
is an interactive museum and nature preserve located in downtown Murfreesboro. Come learn about the wetlands, dabble in the arts, enjoy our play space or swing down the two-story slide.

Jack Daniel's Old Time Distillery offers distillery tours and has been placed in the National Register of Historical Places. Located in Lynchburg, Tennessee where they make every drop of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whisky. Guides will show you firsthand the special process Mr. Jack Daniel's perfected back in 1866. The guided tour takes about an hour.

Stones River National Battlefield is a 600-acre national park and cemetery dedicated to preserving the memory of those who fought and died at this crucial Civil War battle. Living history demonstrations are presented throughout the year. The visitor center offers a museum, self-guided driving tour and video presentation of the battle.

Oakland Historic House Museum was once the center of 1500 acre plantation and one of the most elegant homes in Middle Tennessee. During the Civil War, both Union and Confederate armies camped on the plantation.

Cannonsburgh Village reflects life in the rural south during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Cannonsburgh, the original name of Murfreesboro, houses a large collection of antique farm equipment, grist mill, general store, museum, and blacksmith shop.

The Rutherford County Courthouse on the public square in Murfreesboro is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its significant architecture, political and military history. It served as Tennessee's State Capitol from 1819 to 1826. The Rutherford County Archives are located on the third floor of the courthouse.

The Murfreesboro Greenway System consists of the Stone River Trail and the Lytle Creek Trail. This 4 1/2 mile historical trail provides access to Cannonsburgh Village, Fortress Rosecrans and Stones River National Battlefield. Walkers, joggers, skaters and bicyclists are invited to enjoy the scenic path that is free and open during daylight hours.
